Sesame Teriyaki Salmon

Healthy Omega 3 Booster

My girls love salmon – can’t get enough of it. And when I make it with a teriyaki sauce they lick the bowl clean. I know a bit of plate licking is not considered good manners, but when I’m getting them to eat good, healthy fish plus vegetables I’m not going to complain (Mum, avert your eyes and don’t picture the plate licking).

The beauty of salmon is that it’s an oily or fatty fish (as are tuna, sardines, anchovies and trout). Now that may sound horrific to those of you who want to watch your waistlines, but the oil and fat in salmon is good fat – unsaturated. So the ‘F’ word is a good thing when it comes fat in its unsaturated form. Unsaturated fat keeps your heart healthy, lowers your cholesterol and helps with brain function – I don’t know about you, but I could definitely use all the brain help I can get.

When you look at the nutritional values on the recipe you can see that the dish is quite high in fat but remember it’s good fat and it’s really good for you. Couple it will some fresh vegetables, rice noodles and some sweet salty teriyaki sauce and you’ll be remembering things all over the place. Which may or may not be a good thing….

Do you eat fish often? How do you cook it?
