Pork with Apples


Serves 4

Pan fried pork served with spiced apples. Gorgeous, easy dinner in under 15 minutes.

Per serve: 1052.9kj (250.7cal); 6.4g total fat (2.2g saturated fat)


You’ll need

4 thick pork steaks or chops, all visible fat removed (steaks – 150gms, chops – 180-190gms)
2 large granny smith apples, peeled/cored/halved
1/2 tsp ground cloves
8 small or 4 large sage leaves
Olive Oil spray

Let’s go

Heat oven to 220°c. Place apples in a baking pan, spray with oil and sprinkle with cloves, salt and pepper. Place in the oven. Heat a pan on medium/high, spray with a little oil and pan fry the steaks/chops for 2 minutes on each side. Place steaks in with the apples and bake for 10 minutes. Serve with a green salad or steamed greens. If your steaks are thin (say only about 1cm or so), pan fry for 1 minute per side and finish in the oven for 5-6 minutes.

Why it’s good for you
Lean pork is full of flavour, low fat and packed with Vitamin B and zinc. Team it up with some baked apples and you’ll have a fantastically quick and healthy dinner for any night of the week.
