Moist, low fat, low joule, low sugar treat

Are you wary of Low Fat claims? Me too, cause low fat doesn’t necessarily mean low kilojoule/calorie or low sugar or healthy. Many low fat/no fat products whack in mucho sugar to make the product taste good. And too much sugar just isn’t good for us – it’s bad for our teeth, we crash after the initial energy spike leaving us feeling blah, not to mention our bodies turn all that sugar into fat! This gorgeously delicious hot chocky banana bread is one low fat treat that you can rely on. It has a relatively low sugar content and uses very little butter. The sweet kick and moist texture comes from the ripe bananas – mmmmmm, bananas….. I also pop in a few chocolate bits for a little luxury but you can leave them out if you want to go extra light. I also sometimes swap out half the white flour for wholemeal which boosts fibre intake to about 2 grams.

This banana bread is lovely with a cuppa warm or cold. It also freezes well for those play lunches or just if you want to make it last a little longer. However you have it, with only 174 calories a slice and under 5 grams of fat you’re going to love it.
